I’d like to introduce you formally to the tiniest yet most prolific artist you’ll ever meet. My daughter Coco, who can’t stop painting. She wakes up wanting to paint, goes to sleep wanting to paint and when she’s finished eating her snack, you guessed it…..’Coco paint, mummy?”
I must drop what I’m doing immediately, tie her smock behind her small back, set up the paints and sit back, right back, whilst she begins one of her many masterpieces. She chatters away as she paints, describing the birds, trees, people she’s painting, her chubby hands clutching the brush, the knuckles white with determination. It is one of the most joyful things you’ll ever see.
We bought her an easel for Christmas, but while the weather’s warm, a long piece of butchers paper masking taped to the wall is much more suitable and this way she can really express herself. She is an arteeeest afterall.

After today’s painting effort which included handprints, stars, Nana, Daddy and a dog, I showed her the only painting I know how to do!
Spending time with my children, watching them just being children as they should be makes me think of all the children of Haiti.
I’ve donated at Save the Children
Other good charities are MSF and Unicef
My prayers and thoughts are with all those brave little ones who really should be healthy, happy and most definetly painting.
