Don’t you just love that poem?
We have been on a Christmas reading story frenzy around here. Also baking, ginger bread house icing (pure renovator’s delight), wrapping and getting ready for our annual Sargent family road trip.
My friend Kellie was talking about her childhood road trips, (which you should read btw, so cute and funny!) and it made me think about ours when I was young. We use to trek from wherever we were, down to the Adelaide Hills to spend Christmas at my grandparents magnificent home in Cherry Gardens. Inevitably we’d get in late at night and Granny would have the star shining in the top floor middle window, down the end of their long tree lined driveway. My Gramps would make steaming mugs of hot malted milk for us and we’d run up and down the stairs, in and out of bedrooms, straight into everything whilst my poor weary mother would stumble into her own mothers’ arms after a long trip with four restless kids. Four!
We are leaving on boxing day, so I’m just swinging by to say farewell…thanks for reading! See you in 2012! xx
